Never mind, this is the real video
This is a quirky little short film that Tom Prendergast showed his Uncanny class last year called The Imp of the Perverse. The imp of the perverse was originally thought up by Edgar Allen Poe, thought to be considered a metaphor for impulses. The imp – or small demon – of the perverse is a mischief causer, whispering in the ear of humans and coaxing them into committing dastardly deeds. This short film does a great job of portraying an uncanny, slightly odd idea in a silly way, and I just thought people could use a little humor.
I love this short film! Absolutely wacky, but still gothic. It’s so obscure it’s really cool that you know it and thought of it. I haven’t seen it in forever. And I wholeheartedly agree, nothing but dark content, even when discussing gothic, can get exhausting! It’s great to be reminded of a short film that embodies the failings of mankind and the demons that we choose to represent them. As well as the call of the void, which is a very interesting psychological look at gothic!
